I have a friend named Lisa Hendrickson (owner of CallThatGirl!) who got in contact with me a few months ago with a great idea. She is a LinkedIn wizard and wanted to train people to use LinkedIn to be able to find jobs. With so many people out of work she thought that helping them use LinkedIn would help them to find the work that they were looking for. At that time, she was simply looking for someone to provide a little bit of help and trying to figure out the logistics of it all.
The Project: Project LinkIt Forward
Today, she has been featured in the Star Tribune and is looking at expanding from the Minneapolis market into other metro areas. Over a hundred people have benefitted from her training. She has added new trainers and other helpers who are working pro bono to help people.
In my opinion, this is definitely a way to Refocus Technology. By utilizing the technology that she loved she has been able to create a system to help others using that technology.
I urge everyone to take a look at Lisa’s project and figure out if there is a way you can help. Maybe you can bring the project to your area to help people. Maybe you can do some webinars.
