Will WordPress be your solution?

by Jeremy on April 30, 2009

Alright, so in the past couple of weeks there has been a serious focus on WordPress.  I have created several posts about WordPress including:

Self-Hosted WordPress for your blog?

5 Reasons WordPress should be your CMS

Additional Information about WordPress

So now I want your opinion:

1. Is WordPress something that you are using or going to use?  Why?

2. What is the one thing that you are still unsure of about the product?

3. Am I wrong and there’s a better tool?  What is it and why?

It’s your turn to fire away!!  Let me have it.

Hey Jeremy. Thanks for providing your insight on WordPress. Here are my responses to your questions.

    1. I’m using WordPress for my blog, along with the excellent Thesis Theme. I had only had a little exposure to blogging tools before, so I went with what seemed like the consensus about the best tools.

    2. How does WordPress scale? Well, I’ve heard. There are numerous caching options that can speed things up. We’ll see as my blog traffic grows. I have a feeling my hosting setup will need to be evaluated along with any WordPress performance tweaks.

    3. I couldn’t be happier with WordPress. It’s a joy to use, and does everything I need it to. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

    Corbett,

Thank you for stopping by and letting us know your experiences with WordPress.

I have not had the opportunity to work with Thesis yet but I have heard some great things about it. BTW ~ I like the new look with Thesis.

As far as scaling, from what I have read the solution can scale very well. I have also heard that there are some great tools to cache to help with performance. Also, there are plugins that will allow WP users to feed data from some of the cloud environments. That should also help scalability.

It really seems to be a great tool and I think that it can be a solution to many needs.

    Thanks again for your comments.
