I just read that Google acquired Gizmo5?  That could be very good news for Google Voice but bad news for Skype.  Google Voice is a pretty cool service but doesn’t have the ability to be the end point of the call.  If you place a call, it will call another number of yours and then place the phone call.  Obviously this could be a long term issue.  Well, guess what Gizmo5 provides… end point.  Gizmo5 is VOIP service that you can use online and is already able to integrate with Google Voice.

In a post on Google Voice’s Blog, the following statement is made:

“Gizmo5′s engineers will be joining the Google Voice team to continue improving the Google Voice and Gizmo5 experience.”

Seems like a pretty good fit.  I think that Skype is going to have a fight on their hands when Google merges the two products together.

Will this finish the setup for Google VOIP visions??
