First of all, I have to say that I am recent convert to the idea of Facebook and Facebook pages for business.  That said, I am a believer that FaceBook offers some huge opportunities for businesses.  Many people will say why would I want to waste my time on FaceBook?  My first big answer is 300+ million people utilize FaceBook.  There’s a pretty good chance that your clients and potential clients are on there.

What’s the big deal?  Community.  Plain and simple.  FaceBook is not just another place for you to put your coupons, ad videos, and most recent specials.  FaceBook is the place where you can truly connect with your clients, potential clients, and many other smart people to learn more about what’s actually going on out there in your marketplace.  You will need to do a little work to engage those people… but when you do there will be huge payoffs.

Why would a small business need this?  The answer is quite simple… credibility and authenticity.  People love to work with people they like and trust.  How will you ever gain that trust with clients that you don’t know via post cards or email campaigns?  When someone is allowed to interact with you before they purchase something, they can get to know you.  Over a period of time they will grow to trust you.  Guess who they call when they need help? … YOU.  That’s the point.

Why would a large business need this? What is the one biggest pet peeve of people?  Why can’t I get a hold of someone who can answer my question at XYZ company?  Well, now they can.  If they are connected with you on Facebook they have direct access.  They can ask questions and they can be in the know.  Now, that enormous business starts to feel a whole lot more personal.

Again, I’ll ask: Why does your business need a FaceBook page?  To build a loyal community of clients.  In other words to help you make more money.  Plain and simple.  It’s not going to happen overnight… but if you spend the time it will happen.
