Part 2: Can Blogging for Bucks Be Good for Your Bank Account?
Last time (Part 1), we looked at what types of paid blogging are available and what types of opportunities are out there. We also investigated what AdSense was and how it can be placed into blog posts and certain sites to get a profit for clicks. Today, we will cover ways that you can monetize your blog site and posts as well as a little article marketing for maximum earnings.
Monetizing – Is it Worth it?
With a site like Hubpages, you can “monetize” your articles, or agree to have links and ads placed in and around them. For example, www.Kontera.com is one site that you can sign up for where they will place links to sites that advertisers have paid for and place them inside of your Hubs (or articles). When readers click into those links, you get paid for the click. Slowly but surely, these earnings add up. The more articles you have going, the better your chances of getting the clicks…continually contributing good content is key to your success. In the user section of Hubpages (in the my account area), you can see your earnings at a glance with one click.
Amazon.com also offers an affiliate program where you can get a small percentage of clicks or products sold, depending upon the program you sign up for. They offer varying levels of affiliate participation including links and banners, widgets, and aStore. It’s a great way to feature many of the products that Amazon sells while they do most of the work to help you make it look good for your site visitors. All you have to do it set up the account, insert the easy-to-use tools into your site or blog post, and write some great content!
Dress to Impress by Being a Paid Blogger
Blog for a company where you are the sole writer and can also offer to post the blogs to their site along with YouTube videos embedded and pictures as well. I do this for a client of mine who has a country music blog. He has his own domain and wants blogs about country music, news, events, and country music artists. To dress each post up, I embed videos from YouTube along with artist’s pictures to enhance the visual appeal. This also accomplishes the feat of getting the reader to stay on your site and see what else you have for them. This is where Google AdSense and your affiliate links have more of an opportunity to get clicked on.
Whenever I post an article or blog to the Web, I bookmark the article URL and ping the author RSS feed with a service like iPings to tell the search engines that new content has been added. It will get indexed within about two days for the keywords your client is targeting. This his site will start ranking for those keywords right away. Give it a few months and you can start to see some amazing ranking results! But the key is consistency in posting content.
What Type of Blogging is Best for You?
Do a little of each if you’re not sure what will work best. Just start getting your blog posts written, sign up for AdSense, Amazon, Kontera…all of them are great to use. Companies and small clients alike are all looking for a presence online and blogging is one of the BEST ways! Google loves blogs and favors them in the search engines when they are relevant and full of expert information. If you do blog writing for clients, say 500 word blogs twice a week, you can get paid pretty good money.
However, if you opt for learning a bit more about how to create a great blog for someone’s business, doing keyword research for your clients, getting the blog posted for them in an appealing manner, and bookmarking and pinging each entry for maximum exposure…well, then you have a complete business blogging service to offer! If you just want to get your feet wet and aren’t ready to take on business clients, then get into affiliate blogging and use AdSense, Kontera, and Amazon to help you earn some good money for your hard work!
